Note on Handgun Transfers: The $35.00 fee for handguns includes the mandatory Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) background check fee required by the state. This fee is not charged for long guns, as the background check is handled by the FBI (NICS) at no cost to the dealer.

3. Wait for us to contact you once the firearm is received and processed.
4. Schedule your appointment and complete the transfer.
1. Denial and Abandonment Policy
By initiating a transfer to Rock River Tactical, you agree to the following terms:
- Non-Refundable Fee: The transfer fee is non-refundable, even if your background check (NICS/DOJ) results in a denial or delay. Our time and administrative work are completed regardless of the check outcome.
- Denied Transfer: If your background check is denied, the customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping to the originating FFL.
- Abandoned Firearm: Any firearm that is not picked up, or for which return shipping is not arranged, within 30 days of initial notification will be considered abandoned and sold to recover administrative costs.
2. Appointment Required
- We operate by appointment only. Please do not arrive at our location until you have received confirmation from Rock River Tactical that your firearm has been logged and is ready for pickup.
- We will contact you via email or phone within 24 hours of receiving your firearm to schedule your appointment.

A U.S. and/or state government issued photo identification valid at the time of background check initiation that displays full legal name, date of birth, and current residential address (e.g. Driver’s License, State Issued Identification Card, Certain States’ Concealed Firearm Permits, etc.).
If you have updated your address with the government entity (e.g. DMV) that issued it, your driver’s license may still be used for identification and date of birth verification purposes only. Another valid U.S. and/or state government issued document that contains your name and current residential address can be used to supplement your driver’s license as proof of current residence (e.g. Vehicle Registration, Voter Identification Card, Concealed Firearm Permit, etc.).
Handguns may only be transferred to residents of the state where the transaction is taking place. Under certain circumstances, long-guns may be transferred to residents of different states. If you are uncertain, please consult the firearm laws of the state where your desired pick-up store is located as well as your home state, county, and city. For your reference, please consult the following publications: ATF Federal Firearms Regulations Reference Guide and ATF State Laws and Published Ordinances - Firearms.

No. If your background check is denied, the purchase price of the firearm will be refunded to the original buyer (a restocking fee WILL apply). Another person picking up a firearm on behalf of a prohibited individual is committing a “straw purchase”. This is a very serious federal crime punishable by a fine of up to $250,000.00 and 10 years in prison.
